Carrington Preschool is immersed in the emergent curriculum where we support the children in their needs and interests. We involve the children in interest projects throughout the year and encourage them to make independent choices in their play.
This is not to say that the children make all the decisions. The children are involved in experiences focusing on music and language, creative arts, sensory, moulding and manipulative, gross motor, literacy, fine motor, eye hand coordination and cognitive tasks.
Every child has a portfolio that documents individual and group observations, photos, artwork and many other things that you are welcome to look at any time. This is an amazing example of your child's time with us and will be kept by you as a memento of your child's development.
Our school readiness program is implemented throughout the year. Every day the children are immersed in experiences that may focus on numeracy, Rainbow writing, sequencing, spotting the difference, puzzles, matching, cutting and much more. School readiness is done in small groups of two so that our early childhood teacher can identify the skills that children are confident with and those they may need assistance. We realise the importance of children making the transition to school and how this affects the whole family. Children need to be equipped with the necessary skills and we emphasise this in our program.
